Two Mothers and Two Broken Hearts
December 29th, 2008
“Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother … ” (John 19:25)
“The mother of Sisera watched through the window for his return” (Judges 5:28 TLB).
Jesus and Sisera ~ and two mothers whose hearts are broken … !
These two mothers didn’t know each other but their hearts were equally shattered because these were beloved sons in trouble. Mary’s Son was mocked, spat upon and crucified. Sisera’s mother didn’t even know where her son was; she sat there by the window expecting him home at any moment, never realizing that before long her life would forever change.
Both sons were betrayed. Sisera, a Canaanite captain, was murdered by Jael who thought she was doing the Lord’s work (poor God ~ He gets blamed for so much!). Jesus was betrayed by a kiss, the symbol of love and loyalty, and murdered by those who, again, thought they were doing the Lord’s work. And so we are left with two grieving mothers who didn’t know about enemies, politics, treachery and murder. All they knew was that they had sons they loved with all their hearts.
The more I thought about the juxtaposition of these two broken hearts the more I was impressed with how finally futile schemes are. In the end, beginning and middle, life comes down to mothers and fathers and children ~ and love and faithfulness and hope. This is the common bond among us all: love and a Father who loves us beyond measure, even to the Cross. What a pity human nature intervened on God’s perfect plan for our happiness!
Keeping Your Attitude Up When Circumstances Are Down
December 27th, 2008
Everyone knows that a positive attitude is key to the successful life. But what happens when things go wrong? What happens when circumstances deal us a blow? We have a tendency to let our attitudes take the dive along with our state of affairs. Life deals us setbacks, both minor and major, on a regular basis, but if we are going to be successful, we need to know how to deal with them and keep our attitudes intact! We need practical tools to help us understand how we can go about keeping our attitude up, when the circumstances are down. Here are some thoughts to help us do so:
Take some time-out. I’m sure you are aware of what happens. You are going about your day and everything seems to be going well, when out of nowhere disaster strikes. All of your best-laid plans begin to tumble. Sometimes circumstances surprise us and we react. Unfortunately, this often compounds the problem because by reacting we tend to operate out of our weaknesses instead of our strengths. We make decisions that are not well thought out. We function with a bad attitude that says, “I can’t believe this is happening!”
The next time circumstances turn against you, take some time to just step back from the problem and think. This will enable you to deal with the issue at hand rationally, instead of emotionally. It will allow you to put your state of mind back into its proper place. It gives you the opportunity to choose your attitude as you face the circumstances at hand. Remember that we don’t have to do something right now. Go grab a cup of coffee and relax little bit. By doing this you function with you being in control and not the circumstances.
Keep your eye on the goal. A second step in keeping our attitude in the proper place is to make sure we keep the important things important. One of the biggest problems with trouble is that it gets your focus off of where it should be. When I experience difficult circumstances and people ask me how it is going, I tell them, “I am just keeping my eye on the goal.” It has always been fascinating to me that when racecar drivers get into trouble, they keep their eyes straight ahead and do not move them away. There is just too much chance of wrecking that way. Instead, their eyes are on the goal, and this keeps them out of trouble. If you find yourself getting down about circumstances, sit down and write out what the goal is. Give some thought to how you can achieve that goal, or others you may have.
A man was asked how he was doing and he responded, “Pretty well, under the circumstances.” The other man asked, “What are you doing under the circumstances?” Good question. We shouldn’t be under the circumstances, we should be focused on the goal and moving forward.
Focus on solutions, not problems. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, the old saying goes. Negative circumstances don’t sit idly by. They scream for our attention. When we face difficult circumstances, we tend to dwell on them. We talk about them, fret about them, and give them way too much attention. Instead of talking about problems, talk about solutions. Instead of spending your time thinking about how bad things are, think about how good they will be! Don’t have family or staff meetings about the problems and how big they are. Have meetings on the solutions and how you will implement them. Don’t let yourself or other team members complain. Encourage them to solve, with an emphasis on the positive results that will come from doing so. Then take some time to put these solutions down on paper, so you can monitor your progress.
Get some positive input. The mind tends to build on itself, so when we begin to go in one direction, i.e. worry, it can be a slippery slope. One thing we must do is get our thoughts back on track with positive ideas. When circumstances have got you against the emotional wall, get with a good friend who can encourage you. Listen to a tape by Zig Zigler or another motivational speaker. Pick up a good book and give it a read. Whatever external influence you can get to put your attitude back on the positive side of the tracks - do it! It must be one of our first goals to start plugging good things into our minds to fuel our attitudes.
Tell yourself the good. One of the greatest internal powers we have is the power to control our thoughts. Spend time dwelling on the good things about your life or job instead of the problems. Think about positive things, things you enjoy and give you a sense of happiness and peace. There is an old childhood song that says, “Count your blessings, name them one by one.” That is great advice! Let your positive attitude develop from within as well as from without. This makes all the difference!
Remember that circumstances are not forever. Sometimes it seems like we are going to be up to our eyeballs in the situation forever, when in reality, this too shall pass. There will be a time in the future when circumstances will change and you will be on the mountain instead of the valley. This will give you a sense of hope as you live and work that will change your attitude, make you feel better and put you on the fast track for growth!
Some questions as we close:
Q. Do you have a habit of reflection before responding?
Q. Do you have a habit of keeping your eye on the goal?
Q. Do you focus on solutions or problems?
Q. Do you give yourself positive outside influence?
Q. Do you have a habit of telling yourself the good?
Q. Do you remind yourself that nothing is forever?

Four Words that Make Life Worthwhile
December 27th, 2008
Over the years as I’ve sought out ideas, principles and strategies to life’s challenges, I’ve come across four simple words that can make living worthwhile.
First, life is worthwhile if you Learn. What you don’t know Will hurt you. You have to have learning to exist, let alone succeed. Life is worthwhile if you learn from your own experiences - negative or positive. We learn to do it right by first sometimes doing it wrong. We call that a positive negative. We also learn from other people’s experiences, both positive and negative. I’ve always said that it is too bad failures don’t give seminars. Obviously, we don’t want to pay them so they aren’t usually touring around giving seminars. But that information would be very valuable - we would learn how someone who had it all then messed it up. Learning from other people’s experiences and mistakes is valuable information because we can learn what not to do without the pain of having tried and failed ourselves.
We learn by what we see so pay attention. We learn by what we hear so be a good listener. Now I do suggest that you should be a selective listener, don’t just let anybody dump into your mental factory. We learn from what we read so learn from every source; learn from lectures; learn from songs; learn from sermons; learn from conversations with people who care. Always keep learning.
Second, life is worthwhile if you Try. You can’t just learn; now you have to try something to see if you can do it. Try to make a difference, try to make some progress, try to learn a new skill, try to learn a new sport. It doesn’t mean you can do everything, but there are a lot of things you can do, if you just try. Try your best. Give it every effort. Why not go all out?
Third, life is worthwhile if you Stay. You have to stay from spring until harvest. If you have signed up for the day or for the game or for the project - see it through. Sometimes calamity comes and then it is worth wrapping it up. And that’s the end, but just don’t end in the middle. Maybe on the next project you pass, but on this one, if you signed up, see it through.
And lastly, life is worthwhile if you Care. If you care at all you will get some results, if you care enough you can get incredible results. Care enough to make a difference. Care enough to turn somebody around. Care enough to start a new enterprise. Care enough to change it all. Care enough to be the highest producer. Care enough to set some records. Care enough to win.
Four powerful little words: learn, try, stay and care. What difference can you make in your life today by putting these words to work?
To Your Success,

Overseas Sports Gaming Keeps Bettors at Their Desks
December 26th, 2008
Many modern gaming buffs should have heard of the slogan “offshore sports betting”, though aren’t altogether in the know what it signifies. An overseas betting internet site essentially works extrinsically to the rule of any particular nation or else it could also be a live betting website which has its main computers inside a country in which web based gambling is not currently illegitimate. In brief then, it’s a sports gambling administration doing business outside the nation of the clientele. On-line sports wagering websites are by and large modulated through 3 organizations. These are the OSGA (the Offshore Gaming Association), IGC (Interactive Gaming Council) and the Fidelity Trust Gaming Association FTGA.
The OSGA is in fact an unbiased institute that presently oversees the modern overseas betting trade, they undertake to also supply the public an avenue to distinguish respectable internet organizations to play gambling games with. The agency endeavors to support the legal rights of bettors, additionally they don’t demand any association fees. The Offshore Gaming Association are a proficient not to mention neutral third party affiliation which gives objective judgments, founded on customer feedback, unprejudiced studies, calls, inside information and additionally supplies industry information.
The IGC are a non commercially influenced agency. The organisation has been created to furnish a forum for worried individuals to address questions not to mention to collective worries in the international online gaming industry, to ensure fair and dutiful trade rules and procedures that heighten consumer confidence in internet based gaming merchandise and services, and in addition to be of help as the trade’s universal policy adviser and it also works as a data depot.
The IGC has established a name for advocating trustworthiness, integrity and also credibility because of its scrupulous code of conduct, and in addition its appeal to commercial enterprises of principled practise. The IGC regularises offshore sports gaming by means of using a particular ten point working process moreover bills sports gaming businesses a fee for publishing their logo. Disappointed gamblers may, if they desire, mention any of their problems to the Interactive Gaming Council.
The FTGA was formed in a venture to generate a benchmark to raise the standards of computer accessible gambling operations. The IGC trust that by carrying on business entirely with enterprises of honorable reputation, they are able to found a union of the fairest and professional internet gaming companies internationally.
So, these are establishments who coordinate the practises of web based betting and which should with time work to alleviate any fears experienced by detractors. Internet based gambling sites are at present completely dependable, since private data are no longer requested and also the returns and the odds are equivalent to common Vegas-type sports bet. They diminish the traveling expenditure, but still retain of a Nevada casino, but nowadays you may bet in the comfort of your own home.
Flying Stars Fengshui for 2006 : Predictions & Remedies for Main Door Facing North East
December 26th, 2008
(Chinese Solar Year : 04.02.2006 to 03.02.2007)
Flying Stars or Fei Xing is a powerful form of Feng Shui derived from the famous Xuan Kong Fengshui. It is an Analysis of the Five Elements and Star Combinations (representing certain energy patterns) that occupy every building. Each new year these annual stars change, Qi (energy) shifts happen, bringing good and bad energy with them - thereby producing different effects.
In February 2004 all the Feng Shui Energy Patterns underwent huge transformations to the NewAge of Land Luck called Period 8 Energy Cycles. It means that a large scale evolution of the human race with completely new energy dynamics has started. The significance is that the new, vibrant energies of Period 8 impacts on the buildings differently than before and energies that were previously activated now need to be remedied, in order to reduce any bad effects from the past influences.
The Flying Stars Chart or the 9-Grid Meteor Plan for the Bing-Xu, Year of the Yang Red Fire Dog has been plotted and the effects of their energy patterns are analyzed. The analysis also contains suggested remedies/cures for reducing the impact of negative energy and recommended enhancers for increasing and improving upon the beneficial energy.
For the remedies/enhancers to be effective, they should be cleansed, energised, blessed and programmed not only for the particular individual/family but also for the specific purpose/problem. They should also be placed in the indicated location.
The direction in which your main door lies is very important to any form of Geomancy, including Fengshui & Vaastu. The primary reason for this is that the air currents and energy flow in and flow out through the mouth of the main door. Thus you receive positive energy for the year, if the main door faces a direction of auspicious stars or meteors (powerful energy bodies) and receive negative energy for the year, if the main door faces a direction of evil stars or meteors. In case negative impacts are forecast, you can simply offset the negative energy by installing the recommended remedies there. Any or all of these remedies can be reused for the coming years, the only thing is that they should be repositioned according to the new year.
Please note that the effects may be felt in varying degrees depending upon the exact compass degree of the main door.
ANNUAL FORECAST & REMEDIES FOR FLATS/HOMES/OFFICES/FACTORIES WITH MAIN DOOR FACING NORTH EAST :

Cashflow can be consolidated. More assets will be bought. Investments will increase. Expansions will automatically happen. You will gain more authority. Your circle of friends and well-wishers will expand and your social recognition and status will enhance. You might also have to travel a lot.
If you are in politics, marketing, computer hardware, interior decoration, construction or in real estate business, you will have an extra great time. If any of you are in sports, security, police or armed forces, you may wish to boost your career luck by stringing up 8 golden colured I-Ching Coins near the door.
Do not lend money even to your closest friend or relative. Do not sign as guarantor for anybody.
Display the “Safety Talisman for 2006″ in the North West sector and carry a miniature version of it always.
Door Mat Colour for the Main Door : Golden Yellow or Brown (on the outside).

The Father Of Virtual Real Estate Investing Comments On His Industry
December 25th, 2008
Landlords and rehabbers take notice - you may soon be focused on the new concepts of “Virtual Real Estate Investing“. Everything from using the internet as an avenue to make more money in real estate to online games such as SecondLife seem to be included in the popular definition of this term.
To find out the real story, I had a conversation with Bryan Ellis, widely considered to be one of the originators of the concept of Virtual Real Estate Investing.
Ellis says he adopted the term “virtual real estate investing” sometime before Y2K after he realized that making money online is conceptually very similar to making money with physical real estate.
Bryan Ellis cites the similar strategies one can employe to make money from “virtual property” and “physical property” as a primary parallel of the two markets. “There’s a huge difference between a website and a piece of real estate, but the ways you can profit from them are similar: ‘flipping’, rental/leasing, advertising sales, etc…all of these apply to both markets” he states.
The parallels really are obvious. Consider this: If you own a piece of real estate in a desirable neighborhood, your real estate has value because other people are interested in that location. Similarly, ownership of a desirable domain name is valuable for the same reasons. Regardless of the type of asset, you can sell or lease or use any number of strategies to turn the assets into cash.
In our next installment of this series on virtual real estate investing., Bryan Ellis will share the internet analogies to the physical concept of real estate development.
The Oxford Dictionary Creation and The Future of Language
December 25th, 2008
Have you ever read the encyclopedia? Well, I guess you are not a; know it all, after all? Have you ever read the dictionary? It seems like a boring thing to do but you really should read it, as it is quite good actually. In my life I have read two dictionaries; an abridged Oxford dictionary and a regular dictionary.
It is amazing how the language changes over the years in each society and in each new generation. If you ever want to read a book on the subject, then I recommend; “The Meaning of Everything; The story of the Oxford English Dictionary” by Simon Winchester.
What will the future of the English language be? Well, a lot of that depends on professors and scholars and what they consider words, as each year new words are added to the dictionary. But in the information age we have compound words that take on entirely new meanings. We also have industry professionals and consultants creating new words in their fields. Many words that are quite unique and in industry terminology and new industry buzzwords are not in the Oxford dictionary although as time marches on they may actually earn a spot.
But still, what will the future of language be with all this instant messaging and abbreviated words? Our language is evolving and changing whether the professors and Oxford scholars like it or not. Slang is becoming acceptable and hyphenated shortened words are also. Still authors who are popular often invent new words and they are readily accepted if the writer is recognized. The future of language is involving faster than ever before and perhaps you will think of this in 2006.

Arthritis And Diet
December 24th, 2008
Arthritis And Diet
Arthritis can be helped by paying attention to your diet. Today lets take a look at minerals and the role they play in bone, ligament and cartilage health.
MINERALS NEEDED IN THE DIET:
Boron - This trace mineral aids in bone health.
Calcium - This is a much-needed mineral for bone health.
Magnesium - Magnesium helps keep calcium in balance within the system.
Zinc - This mineral is necessary for bone growth, but is often lacking in arthritic patients.
Manganese - Manganese is also necessary for bone growth. However, do not ingest manganese with calcium because they can work against each other.
Copper - Copper helps to strengthen connective tissue.
Germanium - This antioxidant helps with pain relief.
Sulfur - A lack of sulfur can result in deterioration of ligaments, cartilage, collagen and tendons.
Vegetables are a good source of minerals, especially the dark leafy greens such as swiss chard and kale. So it would be wise to make sure that you have 5 or more 1/2 cup survings of vegetables in your diet each day.
Don’t skimp on your vegetables or you may not get enough minerals to help with your arthritis.

Are You Running Your Website Visitors Away?
December 24th, 2008
Small businesses are flocking to the Internet.
The web is fast becoming a major channel for lead
generations and sales of products and services.
Additionally, thousands of people are turning to
the Web to start their own home-based businesses.
After spending hundreds and even thousands of
dollars to build their web presence, the vast
majority of businesses coming online are
disappointed with the promised results of their
websites. I’m sorry to say, but most of these
under-performing websites were build by graphic
designers and technical developers that have no
real marketing experience. In committing these
mistakes many small business owners are
unwittingly driving their website visitors away!
Having reviewed literally hundreds of websites for
small business owners, I have seen the exact same
mistakes being made over and over. The following
are 5 of the most common website design mistakes
being made today - and tips on what you can do to
avoid them.
Mistake #1 - Not Clearly Differentiating Yourself
From The Competition
How many websites have you been to that look the
same, say the same thing, have the same functions,
and generally are just the same-ole website?
Probably a lot. People go to your website to get
information to solve their problem and to find out
how you can solve it for them.
If your visitor doesn’t have a clear understanding
of why you are different and that you are the only
solution for them to logically choose, they will
click on over to your competitor.
One of the most common website mistakes is not
clearly differentiating themselves from their
competitors in a meaningful way. Meaningful in a
sense, that whatever difference you claim to have
must benefit the customer. It needs to be
something that they desire.
If you’ve done your job right, you visitor will
feel that they would be foolish to not buy your
product or service.
Mistake #2 - Content focused on only you and your
business
No one cares about you or any of your awards. All
they care about is how you can help them solve
their problem. I see this time and again - small
business webites owners focusing all their content
on their company and how good they think they are.
The moment you start to understand that people
don’t care about you, and what they really care
about is how you can solve their problem, your
sales will begin to increase. Why? Because
generally speaking, deep down, people are totally
immersed in their own problems. Your job is to
get into that person’s mind as the solution of
those problems. Here are some tactics that you can
implement to make your prospect begin to see you
as the solution to their problems:
-State your prospect’s problem then agitate it
-Address each potential objection in your copy
and an FAQ area
-Do the “I and We” test (If you have I in your
copy more than half of the times you use “you and
your”…you need to re-write your copy)
-Show testimonials and case studies of people
that have achieved positive results
Mistake #3 - Confusing Navigational Instructions
The cyberworld is impatient and unforgiving. If a
visitor lands on your site and gets confused, she
is only a mouse click away from another site.
Providing good navigation on your website is a
must if you want to convert your visitors into
customers. Here is a 3 step formula for
developing a good navigational scheme for your
site:
-Determine your “most wanted response” (MWR)
-Provide a pathway to your MWR
-Provide a closing page i.e. an irresistible
offer
Mistake #4 - No use of compelling headlines and
sub-headlines
It is said that 80% of the success of a direct
mail letter is attributed to its headline. It is
no different with website copy. The Web has
brought us universal access to photos and graphics
but in the end, it’s the copy that sells…period.
The trick to getting your visitors to read your
copy is to use dynamic, attention-getting
headlines and sub-headlines.
The sole purpose of your headline should be to
make sure your visitor wants to continue reading
the text below it. Each and every page of your
website should start with a headline.
Mistake #5 - Dull, Mind-Numbing Content
Many web developers just don’t know how to write
web copy. Most small business sites provide copy
that is boring and useless. The site is about
what the small business does and NOT what problem
your services solve for the customer.
Here are some suggestions to liven up your web
copy:
-Include stories of real people
-Use case studies
-Use surveys, studies, charts, graphs and evidence
-Use thumbnail photo galleries…make sure they are thumbnail and not
full size…a slow loading site is a no-no!
While this list doesn’t cover all of the possible
website mistakes, it does describe some of the
most expensive, destructive and most common made
by many online business owners. Just by following
the suggestions above, you will find that your
website visitors will land on your site and feel
free to stay awhile and browse around. Thus,
beginning the process of converting a visitor into
a customer.

How to Overcome the Overwhelm of the Holiday Season (And Red
December 21st, 2008
The Holiday Season can be a wonderful time of year, filled with lovely decorations, gift exchanges, visits with friends and family and delicious meals. But for many of us, the Holiday Season can also be quite overwhelming with all the added activities such as decorating our homes, selecting, buying, wrapping and exchanging gifts and hosting friends and family while we prepare multi-course elaborate meals! The question is, “What can we do to Overcome Overwhelm during the Holidays?”
1. Simplify Your Life
Holidays that are full of complexity are neither fun nor comfortable. Complexity can easily contribute to feeling overwhelmed. We can be invited to numerous events and want to host others ourselves. These activities can be very wonderful experiences, but there can also be too many to prepare for and attend in a short time. You may also have to consider selecting, wrapping and delivering gifts, decorating the house, and, potentially, traveling to visit friends and family across the country. Keeping the holidays simple with a manageable number of events to attend and/or host, can greatly contribute to Overcoming Overwhelm during the Holidays.
2. Practice Extreme Self-Care
In our fast paced world, often our physical bodies become the last priority. We drag our bodies around nonstop and we can be indifferent to signs of exhaustion. When we practice extreme self-care, our mind, body and spirit are much more likely to assist us in our other efforts by providing strong support including energy, enthusiasm and presence. With extreme self-care our energy is up, our confidence is high and we feel much more positive. Some examples of self-care activities include sufficient sleep, quiet time, exercise, healthy food, and joyful recreation. Often during the holidays, some of our self-care activities are put on hold with all the hustle and bustle of the season. Taking proper care of ourselves during the Holiday Season can contribute greatly to Overcoming Overwhelm during the Holidays.
3. Celebrate the Unique You
Sometimes there are “should” or “must” dos on our to-do list that we really don’t enjoy doing or don’t leverage our best skills. We can end up delaying or not completing these activities. Or if we take these items on, they can contribute to frustration or overwhelm. Instead, we can consider whether there is someone else who can take care of the item for us or determine if the activity really needs to be done now.
There are many events and activities that we can participate in during the holidays on top of regular life activities. If we don’t know what we really want during the Holiday Season, then it will be much harder to say no to invitations that do not align with our desires. A great place to start is to clearly define our preferences in writing. By sharing our vision of the ideal Holiday Season with our life partner, asking him or her what their desired Holiday Season looks like and integrating these two collaboratively, you have a plan the two of you can action and support together for the Holiday Season. Celebrating the Unique You, by respecting and celebrating your desired Holiday Season, can greatly contribute to Overcoming Overwhelm and experiencing more power, serenity and joy during the Holiday Season.
